Great Rugby Over the Weekend...again!

The Varsity team won the SD Tourney over the weekend and it is reported that the other teams did well also. Victory is important on the field, but as the varsity saw in SoCal over the weekend, it is not the most important thing.
The Highlanders were the class of the Tournament; both on and OFF the field. Winning is great, but winning with class is something to behold. This long-standing game of ours is beginning to slip into the "look at me" attitude that engrosses other major American sports. After scores, there is taunting and other classless acts of showmanship. It was evident at the tourney and I see it almost everywhere I look.
Our players, from the Varsity to the U-10's don't exhibit that type of behavior. It is a reflection on our program that we win and loose with grace. I saw the difference this weekend and believe me it was shocking to see the behavior of some teams.
You should all be proud of the way your boys and girls act as athletes. The old saying that "sports doesn't build character, it reveals it" still holds true.
The Marin Highlanders continue to show great character both on and off the field at all levels. Be proud.
